The sad thing is windows runs flawlessly on it, so I know it is OSX. My question is, am I simply out of luck? I feel cheated that my previously flawlessly working laptop has slowly fallen apart before my eyes with each iteration of OSX since Snow Leopard. I've read as many posts as I can about resolving this issue - from minimizing windowserver, to turning off opacity, defragging, and killing unneeded processes - but none of this has helped. ![]() I had hoped that El Capitan would help, but it is even worse than I could have possibly imagined. By the time I went to Yosemite, my laptop was essentially bricked as 5-30 minute lags for each of my clicks is unacceptable. I noticed these issues began to creep up an iteration or two after Snow Leopard, and things really started to go downhill with Mavericks. All of this assuming I can even do anything on my laptop - usually it is stuck on the pinwheel of death, and I can't even click anything. It will literally take 5 minutes for me to change tabs in my web browser, 10 minutes to launch a new program, videos randomly freeze for 5 minutes or more and then resume. Each progression of OSX has made my macbook more and more unresponsive and unusable. I used to be very happy with my 17" (last generation produced before 17" was discontinued) macbook pro, however that has steadily changed over the last year or two.
